The course is not flat. There's
one good hill, but the course outline is very simple.

you when you cross that finish line!

Will awards be given out for top finishers?

Yes! We will have overall awards for

top finisher. Second and third place finishers in each
division will be announced at the awards ceremony. The
divisions are as follows:12-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Awards
will be given to both male and female winners.
Everybody wins with Bases for Brent!
The first 500 finishers (regardless of age)

How do I know where my donation is going?
|
|
All proceeds from all fund rasiers
will be given away to area families who have some kind
of financial battle with cancer. Potential recipients
are encouraged to apply to
receive money, and the board members of the Brent Bays
Foundation will decide on how much of the money goes
to each recipient. For the 2009-2010 (inaugural)
year, the Brent Bays family will receive a greater
percentage of the money raised than anybody else.

Will there be another 5K event next year?
|
|
The 5K event is the Brent Bays Foundation's
signature fund raiser. We are looking forward to the
next one!
|
|
|
|
How Did the Brent Bays Foundation come to be?
|
|
The Foundation blossomed from a series of conversations
that happened while a few folks were reading Mark
Batterson's book, Wild Goose Chase.
The Bays family has such a large network with personal
connections, and we knew
that we would have the support of a core group of individuals
to pull of a 5K event in 2010.
The original goal was simply to host a 5K event in
order to raise money for the Bays family, as handful
of people (who later became the Brent Bays Foundation
board members), wanted to do something to show Brent
and his family Christian love and support.
After our first meeting, what
started out as a fairly simple fund raiser developed
into an organization with a greater purpose. We all
discovered in ourselves a strong desire to branch
out and help multiple families who have been financially
impacted by cancer in some way. We decided to dream
big, and we now are an organization striving to be a
blessing to multiple families in and around our community.
The Brent Bays Foundation was officially established
in October of 2009. We submitted the paperwork
and applications required to become a non-profit organization
under the proper codes of the IRS, and began holding
meetings monthly. Past meeting agendas and meeting
minutes are available upon your request.
The Brent Bays Foundation,
Inc. is a federally recognized non-profit organization
under the 501(c)3 code of the IRS. We received
the IRS's letter of acceptance on April 10,
2010 stating that our foundation is recognized as a
non-profit, retroactive to October 30, 2009.

What happens after the 5K?
|
|
This organization would love to work year round in
meeting its purpose. We are open to suggestions and
ideas of other big, exciting ways to raise money for
our cause, but are also thrilled with the 5K event as
our primary fundraiser.
|
|
How will other people in the community be affected
by fund raising efforts put together by the BBF?
|
|
The Brent Bays Foundation is ready, excited about,
and proud to support multiple families in
the Gardner and surrounding areas.
During an early board meeting, a process was created
and voted on that will allow us to find other famillies
in the area who are financially battling cancer. We
are giving all our proceeds away - in 2010, the majority
of the funds raised will go directly to the Bays family,
but at least one other family in the surrounding area
will also receive money from the Brent Bays Foundation
after the May 5K event.
If you or anybody you know is currently fighting
a battle with cancer, whether physically or now just
financially, please spread the word about our organization!
Below is the form we ask applicants to fill out
in order to get a monetary award.
